Keeping your home in Ocala, Florida, clean is crucial to improve its air quality. It’s also imperative for keeping your HVAC system running efficiently. Unfortunately, even if you clean on a regular basis, there are many places in your home that dirt and dust like to hide. To make sure your home is free from excess dust, check out these often overlooked spots:
Under and Behind Furniture
Dust accumulates in high concentrations where there’s little traffic to kick it up. This means you may find some thick layers of it underneath, along the side, or behind furniture and appliances. Pull out your appliances once a month to remove built-up dust from behind them.
Curtains and Lampshades
Your curtains and lampshades, especially those that are textured or pleated, can trap dust. Give your lampshades a good wipe down at least once a week. Drag a duster along the top of the curtains. If your curtains are washable, wash them every other month to remove stubborn buildup.
Baseboards and Crown Molding
Dust and dirt often accumulate on the tops of baseboards and in the corners of your crown molding. Give your baseboards a quick wipe before vacuuming or cleaning the floor. Also, use a duster to clean the corners and face of crown molding and chair rails.
Air Vents and Intakes
Your HVAC system’s vents and intakes will often accumulate dirt and dust from inside the ductwork or from the dust that has settled around your living areas. Consider giving these vents a quick vacuum whenever you’re using your vacuum attachment.
Your HVAC System
As your HVAC system circulates air through the home, it can also pull accumulated dust and dirt back into it. This dust will build up in the filter and cover some of the HVAC components. Scheduling routine HVAC maintenance can help keep your system clean and functioning properly.
