Pump Up Your Home’s Heating Efficiency

December 8, 2017

As an eco-conscious homeowner, you want to make sure every aspect of your home in The Villages, Florida, runs as efficiently as possible. During the winter months, your HVAC system is a great place to focus your energy-efficient efforts. From replacing the air filter to scheduling professional maintenance, discover three ways to pump up your home’s heating efficiency.

Replace the Air Filter

It’s good practice to start each season with a fresh air filter. But at Sun Kool Air Conditioning, we recommend replacing the air filter even more often. After all, these disposable filters keep dust, pet dander and mold from circulating through your home’s air supply. They also help prevent those airborne contaminants from accumulating inside your heating system. For optimal efficiency, change the air filter every 30 to 60 days.

Program the Thermostat

Make a point of programming the thermostat at the beginning of the season, and resist the temptation to adjust it manually. In the winter, you’ll want to set it to 68 degrees Fahrenheit when the family is typically home and awake. Program the thermostat to dial back the temperature 10 degrees when you’re all out for the day or asleep for the night. You’ll make a big difference on your utility bill, and you might even help your heating system last longer.

Schedule HVAC Maintenance

We recommend scheduling HVAC maintenance in the fall to ensure that your heating system is running smoothly. During a professional maintenance session, we’ll address minor issues and make sure that there aren’t signs of major problems down the road. Our team will also calibrate your HVAC system, check the wiring and lubricate moving parts to make sure that your heating system is ready to operate efficiently all season long.

Whether you need more tips to improve your HVAC system’s efficiency or you’re in the market for a heating upgrade, we’re at your service. Call Sun Kool Air Conditioning, Inc. today at (352) 330-1067.
